Every person shines with their own unique beauty, and this is especially true for newborn babies.
When little Angelica was born in 2018, her family was over the moon. She came into this world with stunning features and a charming heart-shaped port wine stain, which made her extraordinarily special. Unfortunately, not everyone appreciated the beauty of her distinct mark.
Angelica’s mother, Marianna, always embraced her daughter’s uniqueness and loved her birthmark. However, she encountered people who felt it was their prerogative to comment on Angelica’s appearance.
“The nastiest online comment I received was from someone who cruelly suggested that her face had been pressed against a skillet, implying her face looked grilled,” Marianna shared with the Mirror.
There were moments when people labeled her little girl as “hideous” or “defective.” Such harsh words impacted the family significantly, creating challenges they bravely faced. Yet, they remained unwavering in their resolve to rise above the negativity.
Angelica’s family instilled in her the importance of loving herself, no matter what others said.
To bolster Angelica’s self-esteem, Marianna began painting a birthmark like her daughter’s on her own face.
“I got the inspiration from vascular birthmark awareness day, where people are encouraged to paint a heart on their cheeks,” explained Marianna to The Epoch Times. “Initially, I just drew the heart with my makeup, but then I thought, why not go all the way and replicate Angelica’s port wine stain?”
Those who tried to ‘reassure’ Marianna by suggesting that her daughter’s mark would fade or that she could use makeup to cover it later only deepened her concern. She was troubled by the thought that Angelica might be pressured to conceal her natural beauty instead of celebrating it.
This situation served as a reminder that societal norms often dictate a narrow view of beauty and acceptance.
This loving family always encouraged Angelica to cherish herself just as she is. Sometimes, Marianna would embellish her daughter’s port wine stain with glitter to make it dazzle.
“Thankfully, medical tests have shown that Angelica is perfectly healthy,” Marianna affirmed, acknowledging potential health concerns associated with such birthmarks, like glaucoma. “We just need to keep up with regular check-ups, particularly for her eyes,” she added.
We’re thrilled to see Angelica growing up to love herself and wear her birthmark with pride.
Isn’t she a truly beautiful young lady?
